Senior Healthcare Support Workers help registered practitioners deliver healthcare services to people. As an experienced support worker, you carry out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare or therapeutic tasks, under the direct or indirect supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner. You provide high quality, compassionate healthcare, following standards, policies or protocols and always acting within the limits of your competence. Duties are delegated to you in line with care plans. You are accountable for your work and for reviewing the effectiveness of your actions.
Upon completion of this Apprenticeship, you will qualify with a Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Apprenticeship and Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English. You will have already completed your Care Certificate and will achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support.
The duration of the apprenticeship is: 18 – 24 months.
This apprenticeship is for: Clinical Support workers / healthcare assistants to provide vital assistance to healthcare professionals in diagnosing, treating and caring for patients. You will work in a variety of healthcare settings, depending upon your role, including:
- a specific hospital department (e.g. stroke care, gastroenterology or oncology)
- a community clinic or health centre
- patients’ homes
- GP clinic
